Louis Vuitton has added to its ambassador ranks with the appointment of French basketball player Victor Wembanyama as the latest face of the French luxury house.
Endearingly known as ‘Wemby’, the power-forward has signed on as an official ambassador for the LVMH-owned brand. In his new role, Wembanyama will represent the brand at key events and appear in the Parisian label’s promotional imagery.
“Striving for excellence and with a perpetual honing of craft, Victor joins Louis Vuitton on a journey of shared values and aligned ambitions. Like Louis Vuitton himself, the young athlete has blazed a trail, excelling in a career that is only just beginning,” said Louis Vuitton, in a statement.
In 2023, Wembanyama was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.
The 20-year-old also boasts a large following, with 3.6 million followers on Instagram alone.
Wembanyama joins a growing roster of prominent athletes at Louis Vuitton, including tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz and Naomi Osaka; skier Eileen Gu; swimmer Leon Marchand; and fencer Enzo Lefort.
Looking ahead, parent company LVMH is preparing for the Summer Olympic Games in Paris, serving as a major partner of the event held in July and August.
