Multi-brand luxury Indian fashion boutique Amethyst will launch six collections by textile heritage brand Swati & Sunaina Gold in Chennai. The exclusive showcase and shopping event will take place from October 4 to 5 in Royapettah.
The showcase will present “facets of the extraordinary history of zari in its purest form,” Amethyst announced in a press release. Through its latest designs, Swati & Sunaina Gold aims to bring the intricacies of traditional textile techniques to a contemporary audience.
Collections which will be on display at the October showcase comprise Vanya, Rangkaat, Gyaser, Aab-e-Zar, Beyond Borders, and Classics. The brand’s speciality is using real gold thread in its designs to create wearable works of art, according to Swati & Sunaina Gold. Each of the brand’s sarees are one of a kind and are woven by hand over numerous months.
Designed by Sunaina Jalan and Swati Agarwal, Swati & Sunaina Gold launched as a luxury handmade collection in 2015. The brand’s sarees are each sold in a wooden box and come with a certificate of authenticity as well as a piece or real silver or gold thread used in the saree for testing. Shoppers can create an online account through which to view the brand’s ‘Textile Vault’ on its website.
