“We recently launched first in-country visual merchandising app powered by artificial intelligence,” wrote Bata India’s head of retail marketing and visual merchandising Abhinav Sharan on Linkedin. The app includes management facilities and enables store managers to access campaign information to apply to their local outlet.

Through the app, Bata store managers can prepare and run advertising campaigns in line with the brand’s guidelines. They can also track their performance with a gamified experience.

“Visual merchandising and retail deployments, if done right, can enhance consumer experience and improve store footfall and conversion,” Abhinav Sharan told India Retailing about the brand’s aims for the app. “With so many technologies coming in, it’s important to provide a one-stop solution to field teams and store managers, which can solve all the marketing campaigns, retail deployment and visual merchandising requirements. This came alive with months of hard work, algorithms, machine learning, creating the UI and a lot more, making it one of the finest innovations in the field of visual merchandising.”

Bata was first founded in 1894 and is today headquartered on Switzerland. In 1931, Bata was incorporated in India as ‘Bata India’ and the brand has expanded its footwear operations in the country ever since.
