Activewear brand TechnoSport has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Tamil Nadu to set up a textile manufacturing factory. The facility will be established in Erode district and is expected to create over 2,000 employment opportunities in the coming four years.
“We are pleased to collaborate with the developmental initiatives of the Tamil Nadu government,” said TechnoSport’s director Sunil Jhunjhunwala, India Retailing reported. “The state’s well-established industrial ecosystem, advanced infrastructure, and business-friendly policies offer numerous opportunities that not only help us in reaching our goals but also contribute significantly to the state’s overall progress.”
The factory is on track to begin manufacturing in March this year and it will focus on producing technical textiles with an expected daily capacity of 25 tonnes. The facility will utilise technology from Japan, Germany, Italy, and Taiwan and the MoU for its creation was signed at the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet.
TechnoSport will use the technical textiles made at the factory in its men’s and women’s apparel. The facility will operate under the ‘Special Scheme for Technical Textiles 2023’ and is in line with Tamil Nadu’s plan to become a trillion-dollar state economy.
TechnoSport is based in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout and retails sports and casual wear with a functional, modern aesthetic, according to its Facebook page. The brand retails from its direct to customer e-commerce store.
