Must read

The joint venture between Reliance Brands and Japanese brand Muji, Ryohin Keikaku Reliance India Private Limited, plans to introduce larger stores in India. By opening over 20,000 square foot stores, the brand will be able to expand the range of products on offer in the country.

Muji India recently launched its summer sale – Muji India- Facebook

“Now Muji has a new head for India and the company is scouting for 20,000 to 22,000 square foot store spaces in a few prominent malls,” an anonymous source close to the development told India Retailing.

Muji is known for its lack of logos and branding and its clothing, homeware, and lifestyle products have a minimalist, functional aesthetic inspired by traditional Japanese design. The brand retails clothing, footwear, luggage, home goods, and accessories in its India stores and plans to introduce more ranges in line with its offerings in other countries.

Muji recently launched a ‘Muji to Cook’ range of kitchenware in its India stores, the brand announced on its India Facebook page, and has reported strong demand for its wider product selection. The current average size of Muji’s brick-and-mortar stores in India is from 4,000 to 5,000 square feet.

Ryohin Keikaku Reliance India recently appointed Nazmul Haque as its new Muji brand head for India, India Retailing reported. Reliance Brands and Muji signed a joint venture agreement in 2015 and the joint venture currently operates three stores in India.
