Krimrose, the brainchild of Cristiana Cavalli, the eldest daughter of designer Roberto Cavalli, is betting on collaboration as a central part of its strategy, starting with its first collaboration ever with Spanish, Paris-based designer Maria De La Orden.
Established in 2021, Krimrose emerged from Cristiana’s desire to forge her own creative path, following years at the helm of her family’s fashion empire. Debuting amid the backdrop of the global pandemic, the Italian brand of demi-fine fashion jewelry carries a poignant message of rebirth, resilience, and feminine strength.
Named after the primrose flower, the first bloom of spring, Krimrose celebrates and takes inspiration from nature — a legacy inherited from her father’s iconic designs that reveled in nature’s wonders.
The first in the line up of expected partnerships is a capsule of eight pieces called “Moorish style”, slated for release in November. The collection will find its homes at Gallerie La Fayette in Paris and WOW in Madrid, among other select locations.
The collection follows a key narrative inspired by the Spanish/Moorish architectural heritage with its colors and shapes. The collection features earrings, a cuff bracelet, ear cuffs, rings, and a choker, each offered in three hues: blue sea, Vermillion red, and brick brown.
Each piece is handcrafted out of 18 karat gold coated eco-brass, using time-honored gold smithing techniques, with prices ranging from 100€ for an earcuff to 450€ for a pair of earrings.
In an exclusive conversation with Cristiana and Maria, we delve into the collaborative process behind this collection and gain insight into the future partnerships that Krimrose envisions.
FashionNetwork.com: Collaboration is a central part of Krimrose’s strategy. What inspired you to collaborate with Maria De La Orden for your first collection, and what do you look for in potential collaborators?
Cristiana Cavalli: I draw inspiration from the outside: nature and art in general deeply move me. For me, jewelry is much more than an accessory; it represents an emotional connection. Maria’s style, classic yet joyful, colorful, contemporary and eclectic, deeply touched me. I love her innate elegance and charm. I envision new collaborations that infuse fresh inspiration, drawing from diverse cultures and aesthetics. I’m inherently curious, passionate about travel, and embrace all forms of art. I love mixing my style with other people to create something unique never seen before!
FN: Can you describe any challenges or breakthrough moments you experienced while working together on this project?
CC: Maria had a vision to include ear cuffs and chokers in the capsule collection, which I initially found unusual and unconventional. However, she explained that these are beloved contemporary accessories among young people, and she persisted in her vision. Eventually, I embraced these pieces, learned something new, and grew to appreciate them.
FN: What do you believe Maria brought to the collaboration that added a unique dimension to Krimrose’s jewelry offerings?
CC: This collaboration combines the minimalist, yet sensual and decorative shapes of Krimrose with Maria’s special elegant, chic, and colorful touch. Our aim was to create a very feminine and charming collection.
FN: And Maria, can you share some insights into the creative process behind the “Moorish style” capsule collection? How did you and Cristiana blend your unique styles and inspirations?
Maria De La Orden: I embarked on a search for inspiration, drawing from my personal heritage and the vibrant heritage of southern Spain. The profound influence of Moorish culture guided our creative direction, ensuring that we paid homage to the unique Krimrose style.
FN: What are some key design elements and details that make this collection unique and distinctively yours?
MDLO: My daily use of gold jewelry, the infusion of vibrant colors, and unique shapes define my style, and come alive throughout the collection.
FN: What was the most rewarding aspect of working on this collaboration with Krimrose, and what do you hope customers will appreciate about the “Moorish style” collection?
MDLO: The most gratifying moment for me was witnessing the tangible realization of the jewellery pieces and marveling at the exceptional craftsmanship of the Krimrose design team in bringing my vision to life.
FN: Looking ahead, how do you envision the future of Krimrose, especially in terms of expanding your brand and collaborating with other designers and talents?
CC: Krimrose will continue to evolve through research and design, with interactions and collaborations with talents like Maria being instrumental in our growth. I want to experiment with new materials, potentially exploring titanium or other unconventional materials never used before in jewelry design. I’m also passionate about incorporating natural stones, which hold a special place in my heart as amulets. I will never stop seeking fresh forms of inspiration with community, and nature remaining crucial elements for the brand.
From a commercial perspective, I will fuel this conversation and exchange around the world through pop-up activations with our main international stockists, such as Galerie Lafayette and Wow in Madrid. These initiatives aim to enhance visibility and brand value in line with our positioning. Our direct-to-consumer channel, the e-shop, will play a pivotal role in Krimrose’s growth and serve as the primary point of contact to expand our brand community.
