“I showcased my menswear line with 10 looks,” Gaurav Khanijo told the Times of India about his runway presentation. “It was all about sustainable luxury and represented how we work with different clusters in India and how we use hemp, bamboo, silk, and wool in our work. I made my models wear aalta and ghungroo for the Indian touch.”

Khanijo’s models walked the ramp in fusion style suits with both traditional style embroidery and experimental deviations from it, the brand announced on Facebook. Khadi garments highlighted the importance of handloom both in Indian culture and the sustainable fashion movement and garments ranged from classic and wearable to flamboyant and experimental.

“Proudly representing Indian handloom with the Fashion Design Council of India,” announced Khanijo on Facebook. The event took place at Moscow’s Pashkov House and the FDCI also brought along brands Ritesh Kumar, Naushad Ali, and Shruti Sancheti to take part in the runway show. Each designer highlighted sustainable Indian textiles in their collection and reported a positive response from the international delegates.
