Godrej Consumer Products Q1 net profit rises 41 percent to Rs 451 crore

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) reported a 41 percent increase in net profit to Rs 451 crore ($53.7 million) for the April-June quarter, as against Rs 319 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company’s revenue for the quarter was down by 3 percent to Rs 3,332 crore, as against Rs 3,449 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Godrej’s personal care segment grew by 6 percent with personal wash delivering stable volume growth at low single-digit while hair colours volume remained flat.

Commenting on the results, Sudhir Sitapati, managing director CEO of GCPL in a statement said, “We started the year with a healthy volume growth in our key geographies of India and Indonesia. In India, we delivered an organic volume growth of 8 percent and reported volume growth of 10 percent. The performance was broad-based across home care and personal care.”

“We remain focused on driving volume-led growth along with healthy investments in our brands and improvement in profitability. We continue to have a strong balance sheet. We are on track in our journey to reduce wasted cost and are deploying this to drive profitable and sustainable volume growth across our portfolio through category development,” he added.

GCPL owned by the Godrej Group is one of India’s leading players in the personal care and cosmetics market.
