A year ago, the show for Fendi’s winter 2022 haute couture collection featured one single scintillating diamond jewellery set. After this first foray into high jewellery, Delfina Delettrez Fendi has now broadened her scope. Delettrez Fendi, the daughter of Silvia Venturini Fendi, creative director for the label’s menswear and accessories, has been in charge of jewellery design at the Roman label since 2020, and has now launched her first complete high jewellery collection.

The deisgner’s creations were unveiled at Fendi’s haute couture show – Fendi

The collection consists of some 30 items, and was presented at Fendi’s Parisian haute couture show in early July, featuring Kim Jones’s couture creations for Fall/Winter 2023. The jewellery collection, called Triptych, comprises three themes – Roma Rosa, Gioiello Giallo and Bianco Brillante (Rome pink, yellow jewel and brilliant white) – and is inspired by femininity, Roman architecture and above all by an italicised version of the FF logo, reinterpreted in rounded, soft lines. Under Delettrez Fendi’s expert touch, the logo’s two entwined Fs look less like letters of the alphabet and more like a sketch of a feminine silhouette, embodied in bracelets, necklaces, earrings and cocktail rings.

All the pieces are made using diamonds, in some cases pink and yellow ones, and with delicately tinted stones like sapphires and green, yellow, orange and pink spinels, selected by Delettrez Fendi and the label’s gem experts.

The collection is steeped in Fendi’s design codes, which are scattered throughout like clues. Baguette-cut diamonds, a nod to Fendi’s Baguette handbag, are used ubiquitously, like a logo within a logo. The collection also features the Karligrapphy motif invented by Karl Lagerfeld in 1981, reinterpreted for a diamond necklace.

Delettrez Fendi founded her own jewellery brand in 2007. In 2020, she joined the family label, one of the brightest stars in the LVMH galaxy, encouraged by Fendi’s new creative director for womenswear, Kim Jones, who regards her as one of his muses. Since then, she has been working closely with the British designer, whose looks she is able to complement with unique jewels.

In other news, a month ago Fendi opened its first beach club at the Puente Beach Resort in Marbella, Spain, one of the Andalusian coast’s leading hotel complexes.
