Womenswear brands Deme by Gabriella Demetriades and Ranna Gill each explored romance and femininity in their joint showcase at Lakmé Fashion Week x Fashion Design Council of India in Mumbai. While Deme by Gabriella presented sleek drapery, Ranna Gill brought the prairie to the city with a nature inspired collection.
“Summer of Love is more than a collection; it’s an ode to the carefree spirit of the season,” said designer Gabriella Demetriades in a press release. “With flowing silhouettes that move with every step, an amalgamation of colours that kiss the skin, and a touch of playful charm exuding confidence, this collection is designed to make every woman the radiant star of her summer experience.”
Deme by Gabriella’s collection featured organza, silk, satin, lace, and suede textiles in neutral tones to create fluid, draped looks. Malai jersey and mesh added a modern feel to the looks which were cut to contour the body. Influencer Sakshi S closed the show in a black, body-con maxi dress which epitomised the collection’s glamorous yet relaxed aesthetic.
This season, Ranna Gill mixed the glamour of the city with the charm of the prairie. 3D floral embellishments were found on dresses and semi-formal separates and Bollywood celebrity Madhuri Dixit Nene walked as the runway presentation’s showstopper.
“I am thrilled to have presented my latest collection, Urban Prairie at Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership FDCI this season,” said Ranna Gill. “Urban Prairie breathes life into the juxtaposition of city chic and natural charm. A delightful fusion of contemporary style with the untamed spirit of the prairie, each silhouette is a tribute to the beauty of contrasts, seamlessly blending the allure of nature with the refined elegance of urban life.”
Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI ran from March 13 to 17 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Supported by Reliance, the event featured runway shows, panel discussions, and design contests.
