The comments made in the run-up to the departure are there for all to see. Bastien Daguzan, Jacquemus CEO since May 2022, is leaving the French company, effective December 23.

Bastien Daguzan is no longer CEO of Jacquemus – DR

“I would like to thank Simon for his confidence and for the incredible journey we have made together with the team,” said the CEO in a company press release quoted by the British media outlet BoF. “He has always been a huge source of inspiration; I am very proud to have been part of this adventure.”

Simon Porte Jacquemus, the company’s eponymous founder and owner of the label, wrote a line thanking his former CEO for “the almost two years of partnership. Bastien has been the driving force behind the company and its leadership. We wish him well in his new activities.”

Words can hardly mask a complex situation. Just a few weeks ago, Bastien Daguzan was promoted to president of the French company (a role that had been held by its founder since its creation in 2009). Jacquemus is aiming to achieve sales of no less than €200 million by 2022, with impressive growth rates, which will require a highly specialised command in operations. At the beginning of December, the former head of Paco Rabanne, and Lemaire before that, seemed to be committed to a long-term relationship with the Provençal designer’s brand.

This announcement at the end of the year raises the question of Jacquemus’ general management and also where the label’s now ex-CEO will end up next.
