The global capacity centre will take advantage of India’s skilled software workers. The hub will be led by Akhil Kapoor, who is listed on Linkedin as vice president of Global Business Services global procurement and head of Global Business Services India, anonymous sources aware of the development told the Economic Times.

“Under his leadership, the hub will play a crucial role in key processes such as source-to-pay, financial planning and analysis, invoice-to-cash, and record to report,” an anonymous source told ET Tech. “The Chennai hub has been designated as the Global Hub, seamlessly integrating with Adidas’ existing hubs in Porto (Portugal), Dalian (China), Bogota (Columbia), and North America to cater to the company’s global operations.”

Adidas is expected to continue to invest in its Chennai hub over the coming three to five years to facilitate further growth. The German headquartered business already counts a corporate office in Gurgaon but does not have a global capacity centre in India yet. Setting up a global hub in Chennai will offer a significant boost to Tamil Nadu’s global capacity centre portfolio, which the state government is focusing on developing.
