“The 58th anniversary of GJEPC was marked by a grand celebration on its foundation day at MCA, Mumbai,” announced the GJEPC on Facebook on July 9. “Leading the event were Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, Neerav Bhansali, Convenor of IIJS, Naresh Lathiya, MSME Convenor, and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director. In recognition of their long-standing service, employees who had been with the organisation for over ten years were honoured during the event.”

The GJEPC advocates for the Indian jewellery industry and lobbies the government to create policies to favour the sector for example in its yearly budget and export regulations. The organisation was launched in 1966 by the Government of Commerce and Industry and it runs its headquarters in Mumbai with five regional offices.

The GJEPC is also gearing up to launch its largest edition of India International Jewellery Show Premiere in Mumbai, the organisation announced on Facebook. The trade show will run at two concurrent locations to maximise exhibitor space and product diversity and will run from August 3 to 8. The event will also focus on technology and will feature 250 machinery stalls.

The launch day will feature an ‘IIJS Celebration Night’ with celebrity musician Pritam Chakraborty and the GJEPC has just opened up registration for participants in the trade show. The event is designed to draw a large crowd of international jewellery buyers and facilitate trade to boost India’s jewellery exports.
