Zara partners with Nanushka for premium fashion, home collaboration

Under the leadership of Marta Ortega, Zara has been steadily expanding its scope to include more high-end collaborations that position the fast-fashion giant in a more sophisticated light. Earlier collaborations this year saw the launch of a capsule collection designed by former Yves Saint Laurent creative director Stefano Pilati, as well as a limited-edition festive collection co-designed with supermodel Kate Moss. Now, Zara has announced its latest venture: a partnership with Budapest-based fashion label Nanushka.

Showcased in a visually stunning campaign shot by photographer Colin Dodgson, the collaboration emphasises Zara’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its positioning in the premium fashion market. This collaboration not only boosts Zara’s image but also offers Nanushka a platform to extend its global footprint, exposing the Hungarian label to Zara’s vast international customer base and extensive retail network.

Scheduled to be available both online and in select Zara stores from October 28, the multidisciplinary collection features a broad range of items, from menswear and jewellery to home accessories. Sandra Sándor, Nanushka’s founder and creative director, described the collaboration as a “fusion of Eastern and Western influences,” remaining loyal to Nanushka’s signature design ethos, which is deeply rooted in the brand’s Hungarian heritage. While the exact pricing for the collection has not yet been disclosed, it is expected to be positioned slightly above Zara’s typical price range.

The menswear offerings in this collaboration present a refined blend of tailored and oversized silhouettes, including sleek, fitted jackets, wide-leg pleated trousers, structured wool coats, knitwear, and cozy jacquard fleece sets. The collection’s accessory line complements these garments with a range of stylish pieces such as hats, belts, bags, and footwear, including mules and mid-rise boots. Nanushka’s focus on craftsmanship is evident throughout the collection, particularly in the use of high-end materials like Casentino wool.

The Zara x Nanushka jewellery line offers pieces inspired by minimalist, Bauhaus-like aesthetics, featuring clean lines and simple, modern shapes. The collection consists of rings, earrings, ear cuffs, and necklaces, with some items crafted in silver-toned metals and others incorporating jade-colored resin, adorned with intricate engravings inspired by Hungarian and Eastern motifs.

The collaboration also sees Zara branching further into the home decor space, with Nanushka contributing to a collection that will be sold through Zara’s homeware division, Zara Home. The home collection offers a diverse range of items, including hand-painted floral ceramics, totem-inspired candles, marble-textured side tables, and an array of cushions and rugs that experiment with different textures and fabrics. This collaboration marks Nanushka’s debut into the world of home furnishings.

Nanushka, a brand celebrated for its ethical and sustainable approach to fashion, was founded in 2005 by Sándor. Owned by the Vanguards group and the investment firm GB & Partners, Nanushka operates five standalone stores and is sold through more than 140 retail locations worldwide. In 2022, the brand reported a revenue of €50 million.

Zara and Zara Home, which are part of Inditex’s portfolio, contributed €13.03 billion in sales in the first half of 2023, accounting for a significant portion of the group’s total revenue of €18.06 billion during that period. As of July 31, Zara operated 1,792 stores worldwide, while Zara Home had a total of 404 physical locations across various international markets
