KVIC sales surpass Rs 2 crore on ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ at Delhi store

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission’s (KVIC) flagship store ‘Khadi Bhawan’ at Connaught Place, New Delhi recorded sales of over Rs 2 crore ($2,38,271) on ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ celebrated on October 2.

KVIC claims that this is the highest sales recorded on a single day in the history of Khadi and Village Industry.

According to sales figures shared by KVIC, khadi products worth Rs 2.01 crore were sold at Khadi Bhawan Delhi on Gandhi Jayanti, which includes cotton khadi worth Rs 67.32 lakh, silk khadi worth Rs 44.75 lakh, woollen khadi worth Rs 7.61 lakh, poly khadi worth Rs 1.87 lakh, readymade khadi worth Rs 65.09 lakh, village industry products worth Rs 12.29 lakh and handicraft products worth Rs 2.44 lakh.

Manoj Kumar, chairman of KVIC attributed the record sales to Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and appeal made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to buy ‘Made in India’ products during the festive season.

During the financial year 2024, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission had reported an annual turnover of over Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
