Usually showcasing his collections in the US, Mohapatra travelled to New Delhi to launch his latest womenswear designs at Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI. With a collection inspired by his late mother Sashi, Mohapatra mixed modern silhouettes with sparkling details for a versatile evening wear collection.

The runway show featured an array of celebrity showstoppers and internationally acclaimed Indian models including Shimona Nath, Kirandeep Chahal, Alicia Kaur, Bipasha Basu, Indrani Mukherji, Lisa Haydon, Ananya Panday, and Simone Singh. Each woman wore an occasion wear look suited to her personality and brought Mohapatra’s designs to life.

“The grand finale was a truly historic event, marking a collaboration between the venerable House of Lakmē, India’s first legacy beauty brand, and the globally acclaimed New York-based designer, Bibhu Mohapatra,” announced Lakmé Fashion Week on Facebook. “This extraordinary partnership was curated in association with the Fashion Design Council of India and was an unforgettable celebration of milestones and legendary muses.”

Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with the FDCI took place from October 11 to 15 at New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. The fashion week also featured student fashion showcases, a business-to-customer shopping fair, and a number of design challenges and awards.
