EPCH’s GI Fair India to showcase fashion and lifestyle goods at second edition in Noida

The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts will launch the second edition of its trade show ‘GI Fair India’ on July 20 in Noida. The business to business event will run until July 24 and will showcase handmade fashion, accessories, and gift items from across India. 

“Exhibitors at the fair will share backgrounds and stories about their products, crafts and hand skills,” said the EPCH’s vice chairman Neeraj Khanna in a press release. “India GI Fair aims to connect these invaluable native products, aptly called Legal Local, to connoisseurs and clientele in India as well as the global market.”
 
The event will feature product categories including ethnic wear, wellness products, handloom textiles, home décor, and fashion accessories among others. Notable products will include Sambhal Horn Craft, Bidriware and Illkal sarees from Karnataka, Kullu Shawls from Himachal Pradesh, and Sanganeri hand block printing from Rajasthan. 

“Globally, the GI (Geographical Indication) tag is given to products that have distinct qualities and tradition linked to their place of origin,” said India Exposition Mart Limited’s chairman Rakesh Kumar. “Due to diversity in culture, heritage and topography, each region of India boasts of many such rarities, some still unknown to general populace. At the GI Fair India, it is a carnival like opportunity to immerse in as well as experience so much variety and buy what one likes.” 
 
The event will take place at Noida’s India Expo Centre and is supported by the government’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Textiles. Exhibiting businesses will travel from states across India and organisations including Uttarakhand Handloom and Handicraft Development Council and Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization will also participate. 
 
“India GI Fair also makes business sense in a unique way,” said the EPCH’s executive director R K Verma. “It is a place to broaden one’s horizons with unique products as well as crafts. Here one can see and source India’s best nurtured treasures, traditions and rarities. Curated with an ambition to take these to the world markets, this show offers buyers, an opportunity to carve their niche too.”
