Quick commerce business Zepto has piloted a paid e-commerce membership programme named ‘Zepto Pass’ to engage shoppers. The service offers free deliveries and exclusive discounts to engender customer loyalty.
Zepto’s membership pilot has been launched to a targeted group of users to experiment with the service, the Economic Times reported. The Zepto Pass is priced at Rs 99 a month as a membership fee to unlock free deliveries for orders over Rs 99 and up to 20% off on orders over Rs 299 for some users and Rs 699 for others.
Some users were also offered the service at an introductory price of Rs 19. Due to the vast array of e-commerce platforms in India, building a loyal customer base is especially important for newer players and membership services, such as Amazon Prime, are a way to ensure shoppers return.
“We are constantly running dozens of small experiments to improve customer experience,” said a spokesperson for Zepto, ET Retail reported. “Only a few of these experiments are brought to market, hence we do not comment on them.”
Zepto is based in Mumbai and reported a revenue total of Rs 2,024 crore for the 2023 financial year. The business reported a loss of Rs 1,272 during the fiscal which was a threefold increase compared to its performance in the 2022 financial year.
