Fashion and handicrafts brand The India Craft House created an exclusive ‘sandook’ chest to be given as an official gift for the recent India G20 Summit. The Sheesham (Indian Rosewood) creation was designed to showcase India’s heritage crafts to global leaders including visiting heads of state.
“This remarkable chest, crafted with utmost precision and love, not only left an indelible mark at the G20 Summit but also stands as a testament to the incredible talent that resides within India’s borders,” announced the brand in a press release over the weekend. “The India Craft House has beautifully exemplified the meeting point of tradition and innovation, where artisans meet appreciation, and craftsmanship meets commerce.”
The sandook features a brass strip etched onto the wood with delicate floral patterns and ornate handles. The India Craft House retails similar ornaments as well as ethnic wear, jewellery, and home décor items.
“The India Craft House takes immense pride in contributing to this exceptional initiative by providing the stunning sandook for the presentation of gifts by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” announced the brand. “The artisans’ meticulous work has truly created a visual masterpiece that represents India’s rich culture and heritage.”
The India Craft House was launched as a social enterprise in Gurgaon in 2010 and retails from its direct to customer e-commerce store. The brand aims to offer shoppers eco-friendly goods ranging from fashion to jewellery and ornaments while also uplifting craftspeople across the country.
