The Confederation of Indian Industry partnered with diamond business Shree Ramkrishna Exports Private Limited to host a Business 20 Surat Meet. The event brought together around 200 delegates from G20 countries to discuss global business issues.
The summit was held under the theme of ‘RAISE’ (responsible, accelerated, innovative, sustainable, and equitable businesses) and featured representatives from industries including diamond, textile, finance, and banking, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council reported on its website. Designed as a forum for the global business community, the event saw representatives share policy recommendations and insights with the aim of fostering global business growth.
“We have gathered here to acknowledge and to embrace the spirit of internationalism and recognise that we are indeed global citizens,” said brand custodian at SRK Shreyans Dholakia in his inaugural keynote speech, the GJEPC reported. “Today, our company SRK stands as a testament to the power of embracing this interconnectedness. We have successfully fostered strong trade relations with 80 plus countries across the globe.”
Along with Dholakia, other keynote speakers at the event included Union cabinet minister of ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and state minister for home industries, transport, youth, and sports Harsh Sanghavi. The summit included a roundtable titled ‘Future of Diamond Industry in India in 2030’. Issues facing the diamond industry over the current decade were discussed and the roundtable’s outcomes will contribute to recommendations and strategies for the industry at large.
“Amongst the segments, luxury growth will continue to be a sweet spot,” said Dholakia about the diamond industry. “Surat will keep contributing to India’s global export adding values to its products with environmental and climate protection being the very core to the existence and continuity of human civilisation.”
