Shruti Haasan was recently seen being replaced by actress Mrunal Thakur for the film Dacoit, starring Adivi Sesh. While there has been a lot of speculation on why the actress was replaced, it seems that it may have been because of her co-actor in the film.
As per a report by India Today, the actress had apparently did not walk out of the project due to date clashes with her other films but due to the excessive involvement of her co-actor in the film. In the report, a source stated, “The other actor was getting too involved in the script. Shruti, even though interested in showcasing a new side of her acting, wasn’t comfortable with the over-involvement of the co-star.”
This apparently led the actress to back out of the project despite shooting the teaser for the film and announcing its shoot commencing. Additionally, the report also stated that along with her co-actor’s over-involvement, the shoot of the film was also being pushed back and forth, which also made it uncomfortable for her to work. All these reasons led her to walk out of the project.

After Shruti Haasan was speculated to have walked out of the project, it was officially announced that Mrunal Thakur would be playing the lead role in the film. The movie is touted as an action drama between two former lovers being reunited for a series of robberies which would in the end turn their life around.
The official announcement of Mrunal being cast in the lead was made on December 17, 2024, coinciding with Adivi Sesh’s birthday.

Moving ahead, Shruti Haasan is currently involved in the works of the movie Coolie, starring superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The action thriller flick which is expected to showcase the superstar in an action-packed avatar also has stars like Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao in lead roles.
As the film is expected to release in May of 2025, it is also to be noted that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan will also be appearing for a cameo appearance in the flick.
