A 10-year-old girl found dead at her home in Woking has been described as a “bubbly and confident” pupil by her headteacher.

Sara Sharif was discovered after police were called from Pakistan by her father Urfan Sharif on 10 August.

The 41-year-old man, his partner Beinash Batool, 29, and his 28-year-old brother Faisal Malik are thought to have travelled to Islamabad the day before – and are wanted for questioning.

A post-mortem examination showed Sara had suffered extensive injuries over a sustained period.

The child was a Year 5 pupil at St Mary’s Primary School in Byfleet, Surrey, with headteacher Jacquie Chambers saying she would be “dearly missed” by classmates and teachers alike.

Ms Chambers added: “She [Sara] was a bubbly, confident little girl who had the most beautiful smile. She was full of ideas and was very passionate about the things she believed in.

“Sara will be dearly missed and, as a school community, we are all deeply affected by this tragedy.

“Our thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with those affected by this heartbreaking news.”

Pakistani police are seeking to arrest Urfan Sharif, who travelled to the country with five children ranging from one to 13 years old.

It is believed he briefly returned to his family home in Jhelum, Punjab – about 84 miles (134km) away from the capital – before he went into hiding.

Interpol, the National Crime Agency and the UK Foreign Office are all involved in the investigation.

There is no formal extradition treaty between the UK and Pakistan.

However, Pakistan has transferred people to the UK in the past, including Piran Ditta Khan, who was extradited to the UK in April in connection with the 2005 killing of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.

On Sunday, it emerged that Sara was known to Surrey County Council – and a child safeguarding review is ongoing.
