Designer Sanjukta Dutta showcased a dramatic, fusion style womenswear collection at the Via San Barnaba during Milan Fashion Week in Italy. The runway show blended playful proportions with an Indian take on pop-art motifs to present the ‘Kohua- Komal Collection’.
“Sanjukta’s Studio unveils the Kohua- Komal Collection at Milan Fashion Week,” announced the brand on Facebook. “Step into a world where tradition meets avant-garde at Sanjukta Dutta’s mesmerising Milan Fashion Week 2024 showcase! Embrace the fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary allure as Sanjukta takes centre stage, weaving tales of elegance and innovation with every stitch.”
Eponymous designer Sanjukta Dutta, who hails from Assam, was inspired by the region’ silk textile heritage for her latest collection. Looks from the collection took close to 25 days to complete, the Times of India reported, and designs highlighted the Mekhela Chador technique. Structured sarees walked the runway alongside cocktail dresses and the collection’s colour palette included ivory, emerald green, tomato red, and pale blue for an eclectic aesthetic.
Based in Gauhati, Sanjukta Dutta retails her designs from her brand’s direct to customer e-commerce store named ‘Sanjukta’s Studio’. The designer has presented collections in international cities including New York, US, and Paris, France among others.
