Many artisans have lost their sight due to accidents or underlying health conditions and have learnt to weave using their senses of touch and sound, Sambhavi announced in a press release. The brand aims to celebrate their work and give these artisans both a livelihood and sense of purpose.

Sambhavi has launched an eight by six inch zip-up bag using the textile made by the visually impaired, featuring cotton lining. A card inside the bag details the social impact of the product and how it was made.

“Sambhavi’s mission [is] to empower the visually impaired and honour their incredible journey of touch, sound, and resilience,” announced the brand in a press release. “This beautifully aligns with World Blind Day on the 12th of October, second Thursday of October. It serves as a powerful reminder that creativity knows no boundaries and innovation can flourish in the face of adversity.”

Designer and philanthropist Abinithi Sammbavi Govindh launched Sambhavi in 2021 with the goal of promoting weavers and improving their quality of life. The brand is currently working on a website.
