Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has collaborated with Asian Paints’ wall coverings and home furnishings brand Nilaya to launch an opulent home collection with a campaign starring Bollywood celebrity Deepika Padukone.
The ‘Paris- Calcutta’ collection by Sabyasachi for Nilaya uses motifs from The Sabyasachi Art Foundation to create jewel toned, heritage style patterns for statement wall coverings, Sabyasachi announced on Facebook. The collection made its debut at India Design 2024, which ran from February 15 to 18 in New Delhi, Nilaya announced on Instagram.
“Paris-Calcutta is a tale of two cities, both exuberant in spirit and abundant with art, thought, charm and glamour,” said Mukherjee about the new collection in a post on his eponymous brand’s Facebook page. “One is the city that has consumed my imagination, the other is my home and eternal muse. From the Left Bank to the by-lanes of Chowringhee, packed with poets, rebels and sophisticates. With hand painted motifs created by The Sabyasachi Art Foundation, this collection of wallpapers and fabrics co-created with Asian Paints brings together the sophisticated artistry and cultural decadence of these two cities.”
The collection’s complimentary campaign stars Padukone who wears a striking black ensemble to contrast the Sabyasachi for Nilaya patterned wallpaper behind her. The campaign was photographed by Traun Vishwa and styled by Shaleena Nathani, who is known for working alongside Padukone.
