Robert Pattinson stars in latest Dior campaign

Must read

British and Irish actors are a popular pick for menswear campaigns at present, especially when brands are promoting the lines that form the essence of what the label is all about.

And in the same month that Cillian Murphy made his debut for Versace in its new Icons campaign, Dior has unveiled its own Icons creative with Robert Pattinson the front man this time.

The star LVMH brand said Kim Jones “continues to reinvent the vocabulary of the house’s menswear identity, dreaming up a timeless neo-wardrobe. A fusion of virtuosity, staged at the heart of an outstanding campaign embodied by Dior ambassador Robert Pattinson”.

The look is “pared-down and sophisticated” with the shots revealing “the refinement of the noble materials and unique cuts of these exceptional models,” we’re told.

What that means is practice is a very simple series of images taken by Alasdair McLellan. They come in either black and white or colour that’s almost sepia-toned.

Meanwhile the similarly coloured video shows Pattinson in the moody-and-brooding stance for which he’s known.

He’s seen wearing wide-leg pants, long-structured coats, cashmere sweaters, silk-blend shirts, and Harrington-style jackets — in other words a series of fashion-tinged classics. Plus there are backpacks and weekenders in the new Dior Gravity leather on which a maxi version of the Dior oblique signature motif unfurls. It cam also be seen on the B33 sneakers.

As mentioned, Alasdair McLellan shot the campaign (both stills and video) with art direction by Ronnie Cook Newhouse, set design by Alex Bock, styling by Melanie Ward, Lynsey Alexander on make-up, and Anthony Turner on hair.
