“The 2025 edition of the GenNext Jury was held in Mumbai where seven young designers presented their collections before a panel of the industry’s eminent names,” Lakmē Fashion Week announced on Facebook. “The winners will get an opportunity to present at the upcoming edition of Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with Fashion Design Council of India, in March.”

The designers selected this season are Quarter’s Somya Lochan, That Antiquepiece’s Yash Patil, and Abhichiq’s Abhishek Shinde, Lakmē Fashion Week announced. The GenNext programme has helped to launch over 250 careers in the Indian fashion industry and has completed 38 seasons. GenNext alumni include Péro by Aneeth Arora, Rahul Mishra, and Dhruv Kapoor among others.

“I often say that I didn’t choose design- design chose me,” Quarter’s founder Somya Lochan told Elle India about the journey to fashion. “It was my mother who spotted a newspaper ad and filled out my NIFT application. It was never part of the plan, but fate had other ideas. Over time, design became my language, as natural to me as speaking- a way of communicating without words. My initiation into textiles began with a bold step- quitting a well-paying job. I traveled across Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam to work with clusters and NGOs. It was during this time that I realised a simple truth: in everything we do, we contribute in quarters- one part to the larger whole.”

Quarter specialises in fusion style menswear and features handloom textiles in its designs, according to its Facebook page. The brand held its first ‘Artisanal Experiential Workshop‘ in Varanasi from February 21 to 24 to forge links between craftspeople and consumers.

That Antiquepiece creates dramatic womenswear inspired by antique aesthetics. With sculptural gowns and tactile mixed fabrics, the label brings a playful perspective to fashion heritage. Abhichiq specialises in men’s smart casual wear and its latest collection plays with pastel stripes, colourful checks, and eclectic layers.
