Global sportswear brand Puma has enhanced its India stores by implementing an ‘internet of things’ solution to ensure good in-store indoor air quality. The brand claims it is the first in India to use this technology which is designed to ameliorate the festive shopping experience.
“Our continued investment in technology is a reflection of our commitment to be at the forefront of operating smart and sustainable Puma retail outlets in the country,” said Puma India’s executive director Vishal Gupta, India Retailing reported. “As a brand, Puma is constantly looking for opportunities to create new experiences for its customers. We are working with the best solutions available to deliver a state-of-the-art shopping experience and improved indoor air quality in the stores for customers this festive season.”
The brand tried out its new initiative through a pilot phase where five of its stores maintained good air quality such that they received air quality certifications from Indian testing lab NABL (the Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories). The certification procedure also ensured that the technology is adequate to be effective in diverse Indian regions.
Following the pilot programme, an additional 80 Puma stores are set to receive IAQ certification. The business has partnered with solution provider EcoEnergy Insights to implement the technology across its stores.
The busy festive shopping season is a time of increased congestion on the roads and large crowds which leads to poor air quality, even inside buildings. By ensuring good air quality in its stores, Puma aims to make the customer shopping experience both more healthy and more enjoyable to boost footfall and keep shoppers in the store.
