“My simple mantra for the coming year is to enhance the transaction levels and onboarding more merchants,” ONDC’s managing director and CEO T Koshy told ET Retail. “The increasing trend of festive shopping moving online has pushed customer to look for the best deals across various platforms and apps. With ONDC, customers now have one more alternative that goes beyond the traditional e-commerce apps. Our record transactions indicate a changing consumer behaviour wherein shoppers are eager to explore options to secure the best deals and discounts.”

During the recent festive season, ONDC reported close to 4.75 million transactions from shoppers in over 600 Indian cities in the week leading up to Diwali, from November 6 to 13, the Economic Times reported. The platform saw the highest sales from shoppers in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune.

ONDC plans to focus on onboarding both large- and small-scale merchants as it continues to grow.  “Amazon and Flipkart have not yet started integrating with us, however, I feel it is not a question of whether they will come on board with us or not but it is a question of time,” said Koshy.
