The season, scheduled to run from Friday, September 8 to Wednesday, September 13 will also welcome back Ralph Lauren, after a three-season hiatus, as well as Jonathan Cohen and 3.1 Phillip Lim.

The official season kicks off with the much-anticipated debut of Peter Do at Helmut Lang at 2pm on Friday, though the action begins the day before when Stuart Vevers celebrates his 10th anniversary at Coach, following the closely-watched Supima Design Competition for young designers.

However, the six-day runway season will still be without several prominent American stars including Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and The Row.

That said, the New York season still boasts an impressive roster. Returning brands include Altuzarra, Anna Sui, Area, Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Collina Strada, COS, Dion Lee, Eckhaus Latta, Elena Velez, Gabriela Hearst, Jason Wu, Khaite, LaQuan Smith, Michael Kors, Palomo Spain, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Puppets & Puppets, Sergio Hudson, Theory, Tibi, Tory Burch, Ulla Johnson and Willy Chavarria.

“This season’s official New York Fashion Week schedule will once again showcase the best of American fashion, both emerging and established. We’re excited to see the return of Ralph Lauren, Jonathan Cohen and 3.1 Phillip Lim to the New York runway, adding to the week’s energy,” said CFDA CEO Steven Kolb.

Besides the 71 confirmed designers listed on the official schedule released by the CFA, American fashion’s governing body, there will be additional collections presented digitally and by appointment.

Testifying to the vibrancy of the younger generation, five designers will make catwalk debuts on the official calendar: Advisry, Chan Chit Lo, FFORME, Grace Ling and Sho Konishi.

Keith Herron’s Advisry caught editors attention last September with its cerebral street style and screen-printed T-shirts inspired by Jean Luc Godard’s classic film Masculin Feminin. Chan Chit Lo is a conceptual and poetic menswear knitwear specialist; FFORME’s signature style is architectural shapes and silhouettes; Grace Ling from Singapore emphasizes humor and surrealism; and Sho Konishi is a confirmed avant gardist.

This year’s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists Colin LoCascio, Diotima, Kim Shui, Kozaburo, Melitta Baumeister, Sami Miró Vintage, Tanner Fletcher, Who Decides War and Zankov also join the week with collection showcases.

“New York Fashion Week is an integral part of New York City’s vibrant culture and sense of constant evolution and discovery,” added Kolb.

The New York season show locations range around Manhattan and increasingly into Brooklyn, though Spring Studios continues to be the central hub for IMG’s NYFW: The Shows, which is managed by the independent talent agency.

The preliminary official NYFW schedule is in partnership with IMG’s NYFW: The Shows. Shows and presentations continue to be presented via Runway360, CFDA’s centralized digital hub.

CFDA is a not-for-profit trade association founded in 1962 representing 458 members, composed of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry, eyewear and accessory designers.
