Meesho reported 80% of orders from Tier 2 markets and beyond in 2023

E-commerce platform Meesho reported that 80% of its orders came from Tier 2 markets and beyond in the 2023 calendar year. The business saw its beauty, personal care, and home décor product categories prove to be especially popular this year.

Meesho enabled transactions for a total of 14 crore shoppers on its e-commerce platform in the 2023 calendar year, ET Retail reported. The business noted particular growth in non-metro locations which mirrors the wider trend of rural India embracing online shopping. 
 
The business’ home décor segment grew by 60% year-on-year in 2023 and its beauty and personal care segment grew by 40%. Meesho retails a multi-brand selection of products ranging from fashion to electronics, to lifestyle and beyond with a focus on value retail. 

It is not only customers who are increasingly coming from small towns, Meesho also reported that 60% of its sellers are now from small towns. Over the past two months, Meesho has onboarded approximately 25,000 non-Goods and Service Tax registered sellers following a government ruling to allow certain such businesses to retail online.
 
Along with its e-commerce store, Meesho also runs a shopping app. In 2023, the app was downloaded 14.5 crore times, according to Data.ai. The business also noted that close to 10,000 of its sellers have reported a revenue total of over Rs 1 crore.
