E-commerce major Meesho is gearing up for the festive season by creating around 5 lakh seasonal job opportunities within its seller and logistics network.
With the seasonal jobs, Meesho aims to fulfil the growing demand from its customers during the upcoming festive season. Over 60 per cent of these opportunities will be from tier 3, 4 regions.
Majority roles encompass first-mile and delivery associates responsible for tasks such as delivery picking, sorting, loading, unloading and return inspections.
Additionally, the seasonal workers will assist Meesho’s sellers in various capacities, including manufacturing, packaging, and sorting, to fulfil the rising customer demand.
Commenting on the initiative, Sourabh Pandey, chief experience officer at Meesho in a statement said, “We are anticipating a substantial uptick in demand during this festive season. The creation of these opportunities is focused on enhancing the overall customer experience during the festive season and empowering countless small businesses.”
Meesho is a major contributor to India’s third-party logistics (3PL) ecosystem and aims to double its 3PL shipments to over 1.2 billion in the financial year 2023.
Last year’s festive season five-day sale saw Meesho report 68 percent sales growth compared to the year before. The business shipped approximately 3.34 crore orders during the sale.
