Indian designer Manish Arora has launched his first ever solo exhibition in the US at Scad Fash in Atlanta, Georgia. The exhibition opened to the public on March 27 and chronicles his colourful journey in fashion with looks from his vibrant collections over the years.
“Scad Fash invites you to wonder among the colorful world of Manish Arora to experience the designer’s three favorite emotions, ‘happiness, joy, and celebration,’ key components in making life beautiful,” announced the fashion gallery on Facebook. After a private showcase on May 26, the ‘Life is Beautiful’ exhibition has gone live and also features Arora’s film ‘Holi Holy’ (2013) which explores Indian traditions around widowhood.
The exhibition saw Arora partner with Scad Fash’s creative director Rafael Gomes to curate a selection of the eponymous designer’s most notable creations. These include Arora’s ‘Indian Scottish Kilt’ from his spring/ summer 2008 collection and his ‘Incredible India’ look from spring/ summer 2006.
“This exhibition is of my work from the late 1990s to now,” Manish Arora told Vogue India. “We chose pieces that mattered in my journey learning design… I like to do new things. I always think that when you do something that you don’t know very well, [that] is when it looks the most original.”
