Malabar Gold & Diamonds partners with Rand Refinery for traceable gold

Fine jewellery brand Malabar Gold and Diamonds has partnered with gold refinery Rand Refinery to source its 100% traceable ‘RandPure’ gold. The move boosts Malabar Gold & Diamonds ethnical sourcing with the only referee status refiner in the southern hemisphere. 

“Sustainability and responsible business practices have formed the core of our operations at Malabar Gold & Diamonds,” said Malabar Group’s chairman M P Ahammed, Asian News International reported. “Through our association with Rand Refinery and procurement of RandPure gold, we are reaffirming our commitment to responsible and ethical sourcing by opting for gold that meets the strictest industry norms.”
 
To mark the partnership, Malabar Gold & Diamonds’ managing director of international operations Shamlal Ahamed received the first shipment of RandPure gold from Rand Refinery’s CEO Praveen Baijnath. The handover took place in the presence of numerous senior officials from Malabar Gold & Diamonds as well as Rand Refinery’s chief financial officer Dean Subramanian, ET Bureau reported. 

Malabar Gold & Diamonds launched in 1993 and today counts over 335 stores in 12 countries across the globe. The business is the flagship company of the Malabar Group which is a diversified Indian business conglomerate and has an annual turnover of around $5.2 billion.
