“Women are particularly drawn to highly intricate designs for Lord Ram Darbar pendants and even Ram Temple [jewellery],” said the Meerut Bullion Traders Association’s vice president Akash Manglik, TNN reported. “We have observed an increasing trend as the Pran Pratishtha approaches, prompting us to order many intricate designs from South India.”

The Pran Pratishtha temple is scheduled to open to the public on January 22 and is expected to bring large numbers of tourists and pilgrims to Ayodhya. This has made the area a prime location in which to open clothing and jewellery retail outlets and Kalyan Jewellers announced its plans to open a store in the city this week.

“The trend for purchasing Lord Ram- related jewellery surfaced post-Diwali and is gaining momentum,” said fine jewellery brand Raghunandan Jewellers’ director Tanmay Agarwal, ET Bureau reported. “We are selling items ranging from diamond pendants with ‘Ram’ inscribed on them to fast-selling Ram Darbar and Ram Temple replicas. These temple replicas, made with gold sheets, cost between Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000 and are also very popular.”
