JJ Valaya showcased men’s and women’s couture collection ‘Muraqqa’ on the runway at Hyundai India Couture Week in New Delhi. The eponymous designer translated Ottoman motifs into opulent occasion wear in a show which took place with American Express.
The Muraqqa collection was inspired by traditional Muraqqa albums from the Islamic world, announced the brand on Facebook. Lehengas depicted flora and fauna in intricate detail and menswear mixed sharp tailoring with opulent textiles.
“Isfahan’s magic and splendour are unveiled through intricate Persian miniatures, the rich patterns of Jahjim kilims, and the timeless beauty of regional carpets,” announced JJ Valaya on Facebook. “These elements have been meticulously combined, resulting in a collection where the grandeur of Persia is beautifully realised. Experience the harmonious fusion of historical opulence and modern elegance in every design.”
The collection featured a number of JJ Valaya’s signature design motifs including monochrome chevron prints and leather belts with circular, metal buckles on. With a varied colour scheme ranging from soft pastels to vibrant reds, the collection featured an array of looks for brides, grooms, and wedding guests alike.
