Simon Porte Jacquemus never stays away from his native South of France for very long. After his show at Versailles last June, the designer and founder of the ready-to-wear brand Jacquemus will be presenting his new collection at the Fondation Maeght, dedicated to modern and contemporary art, located in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, between Nice and Cannes, where Louis Vuitton already showed his 2019 cruise collection in May 2018.
The company confirmed the event without revealing any further details. The collection is entitled “Les sculptures”, in homage to Alberto Giacometti, whose Fondation Maeght holds some thirty works of art, including rare bronze sculptures from 1930. The show is set to focus on spring-summer 2024, even though the brand is now disconnected from the traditional fashion calendar and delivers collections that are no longer linked to the seasons.

For Simon Porte Jacquemus, his native town Mallemort, a small sunny town between Marseille and Avignon, has always been his source of inspiration for his fresh, sensual creations since 2009.
This is the fifth time the designer has chosen the south of France, after his first show in 2017 in Marseille on the aerial footbridge linking the Mucem museum to the Place d’Armes at Fort Saint-Jean, his first men’s show in 2018 in the heart of the Sormiou cove between Marseille and Cassis, the show in the lavender fields of the Provencal village of Valensole in 2019, and finally the show organised at the foot of the Camargue salt mountains of Salin-de-Giraud, not far from Arles, in 2022..
Â
The designer is particularly busy at the end of the year, having just launched a children’s line, following a first foray into this segment at the end of 2021. Shortly after unveiling its playful selection of items for the festive season, Jacquemus is introducing a junior collection for boys and girls aged 4 to 12, adapting its classics (t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, shirts, etc.) to the children’s universe.
Â
To accompany this launch, the brand has opened a pop-up store at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann in Paris, on its dedicated children’s floor. Once again, the theme is designed to be fun, in the form of a mini-cinema with a long bench with red cushions, where toddlers can sit and watch cartoons scrolling across a screen in the shape of a porthole.
