Womenswear brand Itrh presented high octane drama on the runway at Dubai Fashion Week with its bright, sculptural collection named ‘Natak’. Mixing Indian aesthetics with fusion styles, the collection played with dichotomies including drama versus softness and boldness versus romance.
Natak, meaning ‘drama’, was a lively and youthful collection, full of swishing gowns and daring tailoring. The collection had a varied colour palette which included dark hues of brown and black, bright hues of turquoise and chartreuse, and pastel hues of lilac and butter yellow, all sparkling with glittering embellishments.
“Bling and drama are a very inherent part of our brand and innate to our aesthetic,” said Itrh’s designers Ridhi Bansal and Mohit Rai about the show in a press release. “Natak also means drama. The inspiration comes from the regional, local natak performances we have all grown up watching. The stage shows, the drama, theatrics, makeup, dramatic costumes that’s the inspiration for this collection.”
This season, the brand elevated its signature Itrh crystal textile by blending it with feathers and chiffon textiles to create a feeling of softness. Natak’s maximalist creations were inspired by classic Indian garments such as sarees, lehengas, and kaftans, reimagined for the global red carpet. By showcasing its collection in Dubai, Itrh is strengthening its international brand following.
