Iran delegation meets with GJEPC, FIEO in Mumbai to discuss increasing trade ties

A delegation from Iran met with a group of India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council officials in Mumbai to discuss deepening trade ties between the two nations, highlighting opportunities to increase links through the gem and jewellery industry.

The official meeting took place on December 19, the GJEPC announced on its website. With the aim of boosting bilateral trade, Iran’s economic deputy of its Kerman Governorate Amir Hassanzadeh and the officer in charge of Kerman’s Gem Project Mohammad Mahdi Sheikh Shua’I both spoke about Iran’s potential as a producer of gold and gemstones. 
 
Iran counts five gold mines and also produces a number of gemstones used in jewellery including amethyst, agate, and garnet. Along with forging trade links, the Iranian delegation also expressed an interest in hosting exhibitions and trade shows in Iran. 

The GJEPC hosts and takes part in a range of jewellery industry trade shows around the world to promote Indian jewellery exports and foster international business networks. The traders’ body is gearing up to hold its latest edition of India International Jewellery Show Signature in Mumbai in January, 2024. 
 
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations also organised a trade meeting with the support of Consulate General of Islamic Republic of Iran on December 19, FIEO announced on its Facebook page. “Iranian counterparts from Kerman Region informed about opportunities for mining and agriculture sector,” wrote FIEO.
