H&M’s activewear concept H&M Move has joined forces with Special Olympics Bharat through its community program ‘Move Together’. The initiative is designed to promote inclusive and sustainable movement in India and empower individuals with intellectual disabilities.
“We are proud to collaborate with Special Olympics Bharat to create more inclusive spaces where people with and without intellectual disabilities can empower each other and shine together,” said H&M Move Together Community Program’s head Diana Amini in a press release. “Our Move Together Program is not just about sports; it’s about building confidence, fostering community spirit, levelling the playing field, and simply having fun. Together, we strive towards a future where everyone is included and valued.”
Special Olympics Bharat is recognised by the government’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and organises sports training and competitions for both children and adults with intellectual disabilities. H&M Move recently held a friendly football match with Special Olympics Bharat’s colleagues and athletes to build connection and celebrate sports. H&M Move and Special Olympics Bharat have extended an invitation to partners from all sectors to join in with their activities.
“Inclusion is a way of thinking and approach at Special Olympics,” said Mallika Nadda, president of Special Olympics Bharat and chairperson of the Asia Pacific Advisory Council for the Special Olympics. “The National Education Policy of India also focuses on inclusion. Our sports program brings together people with different abilities, both on and off the sports field. We want to strengthen our efforts by working together to grow the Unified Champion School program in India. As H&M’s Move Together Program supports inclusivity through movement, their partnership will show the positive impact of collective efforts.”
