The game of musical chairs is back in full swing this autumn, with its share of transfers from one house to another. One example is the arrival at Gucci of Davide Buzzoni from Loro Piana, the LVMH textile and ready-to-wear label, where he was global PR & VIP director. His appointment as global communications director has been confirmed by Kering‘s flagship fashion house.

The Italian will report to Alessio Vannetti, executive vice-president and brand director. He will have “direct responsibility for press service activities worldwide and for corporate communications, ensuring a coherent message that is aligned with Gucci’s values and vision,” according to the company, which is still in a period of transition and struggling to get back on its feet. The label suffered a further decline in the first half of the year, with sales plunging 20% to €4 billion.
Davide Buzzoni therefore arrives in a delicate context. In his new role, he will be able to draw on his solid experience in luxury goods and public relations. Before joining Loro Piana in 2018, Buzzoni worked for Moncler as global editorial manager. A graduate in communication sciences from Milan’s Statale University, he previously worked for Burberry and then Prada.
He succeeds Benjamin Cercio, who left last March. After fifteen years at Louis Vuitton, Cercio joined the Italian brand at the end of 2022 as director of global communications, a title that was later expanded to “senior vice-president in charge of global communications.”

In the meantime, Stefano Cantino arrived in May, also from Louis Vuitton, where he was senior vice-president in charge of communications and events. Gucci has created the position of deputy managing director for him, with the task of supporting CEO Jean-François Palus. Palus has been running the company for a year, while creative direction has been entrusted to Sabato De Sarno, who took over from the iconic Alessandro Michele at the beginning of 2023.
