Glasgow Hydro warns fans not to camp out ahead of Niall Horan gig | UK News

Music fans attending Niall Horan’s gig at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow this week are being warned by venue bosses not to camp out ahead of the show.

Those planning to head to the former One Direction star’s gig on Wednesday are being reminded that queuing and camping overnight at The SEC (Scottish Event Campus) is not permitted.

The SEC includes the OVO Hydro, SEC Armadillo and SEC Centre.

It comes after fans of The 1975 braved freezing temperatures earlier this month to camp out for two nights in an attempt to secure a spot at the front of the stage.

Camping out ahead of major shows has become increasingly popular in recent years.

In May last year, Harry Styles fans camped out for his performance at Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

And in Argentina in November, Taylor Swift fans were reported to have camped out for more than five months ahead of the arrival of The Eras Tour in Buenos Aires.

In a Facebook post, a spokesperson for the 14,300-capacity venue wrote: “Visiting the OVO Hydro on Wednesday for Niall Horan’s gig?

“Please remember, early queuing on campus is discouraged – it won’t guarantee a place at the front of the stage.

“Queuing/camping overnight on campus is not permitted. The safety of the public attending events on our campus is our highest priority, especially considering the active nature of our campus with other various events taking place.

“We recommend visitors allow plenty of time to get through our security checks and into the venue, arriving for the doors open time as a general guide – don’t miss out on the action.”
