“At GJEPC, our vision is to reshape the future of jewellery design through competitions like The Artisan Awards,” said GJEPC chairman Vipul Shah, the GJEPC reported on its website. “Exploring new frontiers in design is about going beyond what already exists. Through this competition GJEPC reiterates its commitment to nurturing an innovative spirit among designers.”

The entry date for sketches for the contest has been set at October 31, 2023. ‘Objet Trouvé’ (French for ‘found object’) challenges jewellers to use a material from their own life, and with which they have a meaningful connection, as a muse to create a piece of jewellery around. ‘Unusual Materials’ asks jewellers to take a material not usually found in fine jewellery and mix it with precious metals or stones to challenge what we see as precious.

“Defying norms and pushing boundaries, the seventh edition of The Artisan Awards invites designers to embark on a journey towards uncharted territory, that challenges the predictable path,” said the GJEPC’s convenor for promotion and marketing Milan Choksi. “Participants are encouraged to liberate their imagination and craft magnificent pieces using a unique blend of precious and non-precious materials or cherished collectibles. This is a golden opportunity to create masterpieces that will captivate and inspire for generations to come.”
