Gemstone mining business Fura Gems has launched a mine to market program for pink sapphires for the Indian market to promote coloured gemstones. Fura Gems has teamed up with six Indian fine jewellery retailers for the initiative and the business will provide them support including market intelligence and in-store support.
“Origin-certified pink sapphires present a tremendous opportunity for the Indian retail jewellery industry, catering to customers’ desires for uniqueness, value, and superior quality,” said Fura Gems’ founder and CEO Dev Shetty, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council reported on its website. “Pink sapphires have garnered significant market traction worldwide, particularly among luxury brands expanding their offerings of precious coloured gemstone jewellery. India’s enduring affinity for vibrant colours makes it an opportune moment to reignite their passion for precious gemstones.”
Nationwide retailers for the program are Senco Gold and Diamonds, PNG Jewellers, Khimji, Batukbhai, Talla Jewellery, and Abhushan which have launched the pink sapphire line in their India stores, Fura Gems announced on Facebook. Jewellery in the program has been manufactured by businesses KGK, Jewelex, Caara, Kama Jewelry, Midas Diamonds, Laxmi Diamond, Sanghi Jewellers, and Priority Jewels.
“Over the next year, we plan to invest significantly to develop the category alongside our jewellery partners, extending the program to Australian sapphires too,” said Shetty. “As the initiator and enabler of this program, we will work closely with the best manufacturers and retailers to build a solid, responsible, and traceable business.”
