Flipkart launches ‘Spoyl’ as Gen Z app-in-app fashion destination

E-commerce giant Flipkart has launched ‘Spoyl’ as a new app-in-app fashion destination specifically curated for Gen Z shoppers. The launch is designed to enable Flipkart to acquire and connect with new customers and revolutionise the way they interact with their personal style.

“Our mission with ‘Spoyl’ is to address the growing needs of Gen Z who embrace their inner confidence and express their authentic selves through their style,” said Flipkart Fashion’s vice president Sandeep Karwa in a press release on August 17. “This is also a generation that sets out to break stereotypes on a daily basis, without judgment. We believe that every person deserves to feel empowered and stylish, and this new launch aims to deliver just that. By using technology that helps us stay ahead of the curve, we will ensure that every single Gen Z shopper has access to choices that suit them best.”
 
India’s Gen Z population size is higher than the global average and Flipkart sees connecting with this age group as vital for its future growth. Gen Z shoppers make up over 25% of Flipkart Fashion’s customer base and the business sees significant untapped potential in the segment. 

Spoyl focuses on promoting value and fashion forward styles and features over 40,000 products which have been chosen for the way they embrace both trends and individuality. The app-in-app feature is also designed to help brands connect with Gen Z customers. 
 
“At Flipkart, we understand that value fashion doesn’t mean compromising on quality and ethical production practices,” said Karwa. “By encouraging our seller ecosystem to use on-spot trend inputs and incorporating advanced planning, we strive to make available the most stylish garments, made possible by technology and data insights.”
