Flipkart launches fulfilment centre in Bhubaneswor

E-commerce giant Flipkart has opened its first grocery fulfilment centre in Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha to bolster its India distribution network. The new centre measures 1.35 lakh square feet and will cater to around 16,000 daily orders with a dispatch capacity of 2.09 lakh units each day.

“In alignment with our state’s vision, Flipkart’s inaugural grocery fulfilment centre marks a significant stride Toward the rapid advancement of local MSMEs and farmers,” said the Small and Medium Enterprise Department’s minister Pratap Keshari Deb, ET Retail reported. “This initiative provides them with access to the pan-India market and establishes stronger connections with end consumers.” 
 
Flipkart’s new fulfilment centre will generate approximately 300 direct and indirect opportunities for employment in the area, according to the business. The centre is also designed to act as a bridge between local retailers and farmers and shoppers across India. 

“This launch signifies more than convenience; it underscores our unwavering commitment to bridge the digital gap and uplift local economies,” said Flipkart’s chief corporate affairs officer Rajneesh Kumar, the Economic Times reported. 
 
Flipkart currently counts 24 grocery fulfilment centres spread across India. The business retails in over 1,800 Indian cities and is constantly increasing the number of pin code areas it delivers to, now counting over 10,000.
