On day seven of India Couture Week, Dolly J presented womenswear collection ‘Selene’ and models walked the runway with wire halos which brought to mind celestial goddesses. Figure hugging and sparkling gowns were given an otherworldly edge with netting and sculptural elements and more traditional style lehengas mixed with dresses featuring cut outs and sheer segments.

Textiles included tulle and metallic tissues and sequins came in silver, copper, and gunmetal. Subtle floral prints added a botanical element to the collection and drama was added by the black, wet-look runway and lunar boulders strewn across the venue.

“The collection is inspired by the mesmerising presence of the enigmatic moon, which stands as a timeless symbol of mystery, beauty, and wonder,” the Fashion Design Council of India announced on Facebook. “It features soft, flowing silhouettes that accentuate the wearer, evoking the moon’s gentle radiance.”

The 16th edition of India Couture Week runs at multiple locations in New Delhi including the Taj Palace from July 25 to August 2. Sponsored by Hyundai, the event runs in partnership with Reliance Brands Limited and the fashion shows are streamed online to enable the public to watch. The fashion week features shows by 16 designers including Tarun Tahiliani, Rimzim Dadu, Gaurav Gupta, Ritu Kumar, and Falguni Shane Peacock among others.
