Christian Dior is mixing up its communications team. The flagship house of the LVMH luxury group has appointed James Deeny as director of press, public and international relations for Christian Dior Couture as well as corporate communications, effective October 9. Deeny, who confirmed his appointment to FashionNetwork.com, succeeds Giuseppe Sperandio, who has left to head communications and image at Loro Piana, one of the group’s other houses.
James Deeny’s remit for the Christian Dior brand covers the women’s lines of the house, the children’s category and Dior Maison. He will report to Deputy Managing Director Olivier Bialobos, in charge of global communications and image.
For the Irish manager, this is in fact a return to LVMH, since for more than seven years, from 2012 to 2019, he headed press and public relations at Kenzo, another brand in Bernard Arnault‘s galaxy.
He then joined the communications agency KCD, where from May 2021 he held the position of senior vice president of press relations. Before joining Kenzo, James Deeny spent five years at Dries Van Noten, where he was in charge of global public relations.
With a BA from University College Dublin and a postgraduate diploma in marketing from Dublin Business School, the Irishman began his career at Assouline Editions as editorial assistant.
