Chanel has named Riley Keough as its latest brand ambassador, continuing a strategy by creative director Virginie Viard of selecting multi-talented, indie and edgy creatives as the emissaries for its elegant marque.

Riley Keough – Chanel

“Chanel is delighted to announce that American actress, director, and producer Riley Keough has been appointed as a House ambassador,” the house said in a release Tuesday.

The granddaughter of icon singer Elvis Presley, Keough will star in the house’s campaign for the Spring/Summer 2024 ready-to-wear collection by Virginie Viard.

The multi-hyphenate’s latest hit series is Amazon’s Daisy Jones and the Six, which earned her an Emmy Award nomination for her title role as a singer in an overnight-successful rock band.

She also won plaudits for performances in two modern youthquake road movies Zola and American Honey, with the latter being nominated for an Independent Spirit Award.

Keough, 34, is a co-founder of production company Felix Culpa, which Chanel notes is “dedicated to telling bold, boundary-pushing, and emotionally rich stories that challenge audiences to see the world differently while giving a voice to talent and stories that need to be heard.”

Keough made her directorial debut with the critically acclaimed War Pony, a gritty tale of adolescents growing up on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. A debut film, which won the Camera D’Or award at Cannes and became a New York Times Critic’s Pick.

Keough has been wearing Chanel regularly for over a decade and wore an aubergine velour pants suit to its march 2023 show on the banks of the Seine and a white wool bouclé redingote at last week’s show in the Grand Palais Ephemère.
