Watch brand Casio plans to start manufacturing watches in India by the end of the year by working with a local partner. The business also aims to open a further 100 stores in India by March 2026.
“We are prioritising the Indian market, which has the highest growth potential,” said Casio India’s managing director Hideki Imai, the Press Trust of India reported. “India has the highest number of youth, below 35 years and we have recognised that fact. We are optimistic about growing the business here in India.”
The business expects that its ‘Made in India’ watches will be available to purchase by the end of the year, ET Bureau reported. Casio’s parent company expects to see its India unit deliver the highest growth in the coming five years.
This year, the business is eyeing a two-fold increase in sales in India and is aiming for three-fold growth compared to its pre-Covid numbers by the year 2025. The business had reported its highest numbers in India in 2019.
In India, Casio retails brands including G-Shock, Enticer, and Vintage Collection, covering a wide range of price points. The business recently announced cricket player Shubman Gill as brand ambassador for its G-Shock watch label to harness his pan-India support and also plans to associate with other sports and games.
